My name is Raquel Nichols. I have a Masterís Degree in Education in Marriage and Family Therapy from Western Kentucky University. I am doubled licensed as both a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of New York. In addition, I am a Certified Trauma Specialist (CTS) and have extensive training and experience in the treatment of trauma-related difficulties.

I am also a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT), a member of the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists (ATSS), and a member of the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI). In addition, I serve on the Board of Directors for Grandview Farms Training Academy to provide consultation and technical assistance for the organizationís Equine-illustrated Life Skills Training Programs. I am a Certified Trainer of the Family Development Credential for Family Service Workers through The University of Michigan, of the Family-to-Family Course Sponsored by NAMI, New York State, of Mental Health First Aid and CONNECTS (a suicide prevention/post-vention course). In addition, I was the recipient of the Edwin Roth Award in 2011 for excellence in delivery of Mental Health Services.

Prior to my private practice, I provided eight (8) years of service as the Program and Clinical Director, as well as Clinical Therapist at Spectrum Care Academy in Cave City, KY, which is a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility for severely emotionally disturbed children, adolescents, and their families. I also currently work as the Director of Family Services at Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc., a Community Action Agency and provide a multitude of professional training seminars to other providers, family service workers, and community agencies. I teach the "Trauma and the Family" and "Treating Diverse Populations" Classes at Medaille College's Graduate Program in Marriage and Family Therapy.
